Sherry DeBow Carlisle

Sherry DeBow Carlisle, 87, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., formerly of Madisonville, Ky., passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Ind.

She was born on November 5, 1938, in Madisonville, Ky., to the late Emily Grace Owen DeBow and Royce Bryant DeBow. She was formerly employed at Sears and was also a bookkeeper at Bowles Tool and Die for fifteen years. She traveled to all fifty states and five of the seven continents. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and loved going to church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Sherry was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church in Madisonville and also a member of First Christian Church in Mt Vernon, Ind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Ross Carlisle; and her brother, Kingsley DeBow.

Her survivors include her sons, Melvin “Craig” (Gail) Carlisle of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Mark Ross (Sheila) Carlisle of Peachtree City, Ga.; grandchildren, Ashley (Kyle) Carlisle Faldoski and Ross (Elizabeth Reiter) Carlisle; great-grandson, Phillip Faldoski; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Hicklin Cemetery, 700 Hicklin Road in Madisonville with Rev. Tim Mason officiating. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
