Gilbert T. Adler

Gilbert Theodore Adler, 89, of Haubstadt, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House surrounded by his loving family.

Gilbert was born on March 27, 1937, in Haubstadt, Ind., to the late Gilbert John and Josephine (Luigs) Adler. He was a grain and dairy farmer his entire life. Gilbert served in the United States Navy Reserves. He was a longtime member of St. Wendel Catholic Church and, along with his late wife Rose Ann, was inducted into the Brute` Society of the Diocese of Evansville in 2013 for their service to their church. Gilbert had been a member of the Knights of St. John Commandery 282 since 1954. He was a Uniform Member; became a Noble Knight in 2003 and was named the Knight of the Year in 2005. Gilbert was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Surviving Gilbert are daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Bill Hart and Stacey and Jeff Baehl; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Angel Adler, Jeff and Ellen Adler and Rick and Tracy Adler; grandchildren, Hannah (Sam) Hagerty, Wyatt Adler, Alexa Adler, Will (Emery) Hart, Wade (Danielle) Hart, Stella Hart, Macey (Eli Coleman) Adler, Mitch Adler, Merritt Adler, Norah (Holden) Ferguson, Olivia Baehl, and Nick Baehl, and two great grandchildren, Loretta Rose Adler and Koe Hart.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rose Ann (Elpers) Adler in 2020; by a sister, Elvera Herr and an infant sister, Rose Adler.

There was a Mass of Chrisitan Burial held at 10 a.m., on Monday, August 24, 2026, at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery.

Friends visited with the family from 1 until 6 p.m., on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home and from 9 a.m., until service time on Monday at St. Wendel Catholic Church.
