This year the committee has chosen the North Posey girls 1992-93 and 1993-94 Lady Viking basketball teams for induction.
Each year an award is presented to a couple or individual who have gone above and beyond expectations in service to the North Posey schools and community. This year the organization acknowledged Dave and Connie Pearce for this prestigious award.
Dave and Connie purchased the Posey County News 18 years ago. Neither graduated from North Posey, but they have truly adopted the North Posey Vikings and the North Posey Community as their school family.
First, to raise friendly competition between Posey County Schools, they implemented the Posey County News Cup. This award has become a coveted prize to the winner of the annual North Posey and Mt. Vernon football game.
The Pearce’s then noticed that North Posey had no programs honoring past outstanding athletes, since the school’s inception in 1959-60, and so they established the North Posey Athletic Hall of Fame. A committee was formed and bylaws were written to support the continuation of this important program. These bylaws and applications are available upon request.
Dave and Connie have also provided funding and hours of manpower to get the athletic hall of fame program started and have maintained that level of support to the present. In addition, The Posey County News generously provides unlimited photos for use by the yearbook, and photos for families and friends via FaceBook. The Pearces also contribute by providing T-shirts and event advertising for athletic and school events. Dave and Connie are so humble and unselfishly give out of the graciousness of their hearts. So many of their gifts and donations are given anonymously, so there is really no way to measure the tremendous impact they have had on our school and the entire North Posey community.
In recognition of their years of service and monetary support to North Posey High School, the Bob and Liz Bulkley Service Award went to Dave and Connie Pearce.
