Nancy J. Ackerman

Nancy J. Ackerman, 84, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Solarbron surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on September 4, 1941, in Evansville to the late Oscar and Anna (Peckenpaugh) Beer.

Nancy worked for Daniel Wertz Elementary School and Reitz High School with more than 25 years of experience as a secretary. She was a lifetime member of St. James West church, where she will be missed by many. In her free time she loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.

Surviving Nancy are two sons and their wives, Donald and Laura Ackerman and Dwayne and Sherri Ackerman; a sister, Phyllis Heise; brother and his wife, Tom and Rita Beer; grandchildren, Adam (Anna) Ackerman, Andrew (Payton) Ackerman, Shelby (Jacob Lewis) Ackerman and Cole Ackerman and two great grandchildren, Austin and Fox Ackerman.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James H. Ackerman in 2015; and by a brothers-in-law, Jack Heise and Fred Ackerman.

Funeral services for Nancy were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Gene Backes officiating. Burial took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends visited with the family from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin St.
