Marce O. Stewart, Jr.

Marce O. Stewart, Jr., 79, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026.

Marce was born on January 26, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Marce O. Stewart, Sr. and Betty Ann (Kirk) Stewart.

Marce and his wife, Brenda (Duncan) Stewart, shared 52 years of marriage together. They started their family in Mt. Vernon, where they raised their children and later enjoyed watching their family grow. They took great joy in spending time with their grandchildren and, eventually, their great-grandchildren. Brenda preceded him in death in March of 2022.

Marce worked for B&W in Mt. Vernon and later for the Mt. Vernon City Garage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when he could share those times with his family. Marce was also a very talented artist who enjoyed drawing. He was a talented and handy man who enjoyed building things, tinkering, and figuring out how to make things work.

Marce is survived by his children, Adam (Cassie) Stewart, Marce (Theresa) Stewart III, and Marcella Stewart; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Stewart and Pat Stewart; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda; daughter, Marcia Stewart; brothers, Dennis, Matthew, Randy, and Jesse Stewart; and sister, Sylvia Stewart.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with burial following in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation was held from 11 a.m., until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Denning Family Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
