Lulu (Lou) Belle Hogan

Lulu (Lou) Belle Deel Hogan, 88, of New Harmony, Ind., born January 18, 1938, to John R. Deel Sr. and Sarah Ann Burkett Deel in New Harmony, Ind., went to heaven to join her family, Saturday, June 13, 2026 at home in New Harmony, Ind.

She married Bobby Hogan on Sept. 19, 1956 at Trinity United Church in Mt. Vernon, Ind., by Rev. August Binder. Before they married, Bob would walk from Mt. Vernon to New Harmony to see Lou.

Surviving are her daughter: Peggy Eaton (Eugene), grandson AJ Eaton (Cecilia) and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Bobby Hogan; sisters: Grace Deel, Opal Pruitt, Goldie Osborn, and Edith White; brothers: John R. Deel, Jr. and Andrew Deel.

Lou was the youngest of her family.

Lou was well known for her southern cooking and especially her pies. During the holidays she would take orders and sell over 50 pies all that we hand made. She loved to garden and had a green thumb (Growing rhubarb was her favorite vegetable).

In the summer you would see her in her back yard filled with Blue Bachelor Button flowers. She loved the color yellow and Lilacs were her favorite flower. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts.

She was an animal lover and will be welcomed by her many pets who she had missed so much.

She enjoyed vacations in the Smoky Mountains and she was a Girl Scout Leader and loved playing Bingo and trips to McDonald and Dairy Queen.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 am, Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony, Ind.

The family will received friends at the cemetery from 10 a.m., until service time.
