Neva M. Hayes

Neva M. Hayes, 79, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away on June 2, 2026.

Neva was born on November 30, 1946, in Casey, Ill., to James and O’Dell Myers.

Neva was married to the love of her life, John Hayes, who preceded her in death. Together they built a wonderful life filled with love and adventure. She especially enjoyed accompanying her husband on long-haul trucking trips and cherished the opportunity to travel throughout the western United States.

Neva was an avid animal lover and an exceptional cook whose meals brought family and friends together. More importantly, she was everyone’s “Auntie - a trusted source of wisdom, comfort, and advice. Her caring nature, warm heart, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her nieces, Jodi Martin of LaOtto, Ind., Melissa Marshall of Mountlake Terrace, Wa., and Jamie Thompson of Auburn, Wa.; her nephew, Justin Daniele of Lucasville, Ohio; and her close family friends, Kevin Zenthoefer of Wadesville, Ind., Judy Riche of Renton, Wa., Ruth Roach of Satsuma, Ala., and Tammy Sisk, Lisa Sisk, and Kirby Sisk Jr. (Little Kirby), all of Melbourne, Fla.
