John V. Clark

John V. Clark, 72, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2026.

John was born in Mt. Vernon on June 28, 1954, the son of Lawrence and Agnes (Greenwell) Clark.

John was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam. After returning home, John began his long career as a truck driver. He later went to work for the Posey County Highway Department.

John cherished time with his family more than anything. He deeply loved his wife, Terri (Green) Clark, whom he was unfortunately preceded in death by after her battle with cancer. John treasured the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and always enjoyed having his family around him.

John loved fishing and camping, and those activities were always more enjoyable when shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards and bowling. One of his most faithful companions was his dog, Jax, whom John loved dearly and who was always by his side.

John is survived by his children, Dustin (Amanda) Clark and Tiffany (Matt Hunt); grandchildren, Dakota Myers, Xavier Jewell, Madison Stocker, and Hope Stocker; great-granddaughter, Haven Myers; companion and neighbor, Lori Renschler; sisters, Doris Crutchfield and Josephine Beach; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terri; his parents, Lawrence and Agnes Clark; and his siblings, Larry and Kenny Clark, Elaine King, and Juanita Schaeffer.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
