Janet Greenwell

Janet Greenwell, 61, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at Encompass Health in Newburgh. She was born on March 4, 1965, in Evansville, Ind., to her mother, Marilyn Brown.

Janet married Charles Greenwell, and they shared 27 years of marriage together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janet’s grandbabies were truly her world. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow. She also had a love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed the freedom and excitement that came with riding. Janet was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and had a special interest in Westerns and Native American history and culture. These interests were a reflection of her unique personality and the things that brought her joy throughout her life.

Janet is survived by her husband, Charles Greenwell; her children, Shiann (Justin) Stevens, Khyla Knapp, Montana (Allan) McCoy, and Dakota Knapp; her siblings, William Montgomery and Angela Rossi; and her grandchildren, Dawson, Denver, Ryatt, Grayson, and Aubrey.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Brown, and her brother, Bryan Gibson.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home, with Janie Suttles officiating. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Burial followed at Marshall Ferry Cemetery in Rising Sun.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an Autism Foundation.
