George R. King, 72, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away on August 30, 2026, at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after falling ill and fighting a sickness.
George was always an “on the go” kind of person. You could usually find him outside piddling with something or down at his “little piece of heaven” in Point Township, which he affectionately called “the barn.” The barn was a special place for George, where he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He loved having his family down there to shoot guns, ride four-wheelers, have fires, and cook out. George took great pride in the place and always made sure it looked pristine.
George was a man who would bend over backwards for anyone and would give the shirt off his back without asking questions. He always made sure that everyone around him was taken care of. His willingness to help others and his generous heart will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
George was a hard-working man who dedicated 45 years to SABIC Innovative Plastics before retiring in 2023.
George is survived by his wife, Jan King; his children, Victoria King, Brian (Lenora) King, and Matthew (Kaila) King; his grandchildren, Kevin, Kate, and Josie, King; and his brothers, Tim
King, Rick King, and Mike King.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per George’s wishes, no services will be held.
Online condolences may be left at Denning Family Funeral Home.
