Greg Pfister


Greg Pfister, 67, unexpectedly passed away at his home in Fort Branch, Ind., July 29, 2026. Greg was born March 27, 1959 in Evansville, Ind.


Greg lived his whole life in Fort Branch, Ind. Greg was a beloved father, a determined and hardworking mechanic, and a long-time pet owner. Greg graduated from Holy Cross Grade School, Fort Branch Middle School at the old Fort Branch High School, and Gibson Southern High School, class of 1977. He loved tinkering in all things mechanical and took great joy when a project came together; he freely gave support and advice, with loving care, to all who accepted it. Greg adored his grandchildren and spoiled them with many sweets.


Greg is survived by his children, Nick Pfister, Sean Pfister, Christie (Caleb) Pfohl, and Carlee (Taylor) Russell; grandchildren, Cody Brewer, Chloe Booth, Clara Pfister-Richie, Trinity Pfister, Kingston Pfister, Cashis Pfister, Coby Pfohl, Harlow Pfohl, Savannah Pfohl and Johannah Russell; dad, Jim Pfister; brothers, John, Alex, Richard, Daniel, and Chris; sisters, Lisa and Ellen; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews (especially Matthew Pfister), and numerous friends who would stop by his home to discuss all manner of things.


He was predeceased by his daughter, Kayla; his mother, Mary Jane; and his grandparents, Alfred and Eloise Pfister and Walter and Catherine Townsend.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2026 with a Memorial service at 11:30 a.m., at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 North First Avenue, Evansville, Ind. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.


Greg was very grateful to the firemen who tried last month to save his home of thirty years and also to the family and larger community who raised money to help him overcome the physical loss and emotional trauma. The family wishes to thank the paramedics who tried valiantly to revive him.
