Eleanor Marie ‘Ellie’ McRae

Eleanor Marie “Ellie” McRae, passed away peacefully at the Charles Ford Home in New Harmony on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Ellie was born on February 1, 1936, in Posey County, Ind., to the late Paul and Viola (Happe) Schorr. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and along with her late husband, Wesley, was a member of the 4 Rivers Camping Club. She was also a member of Zion Lippe United Church of Christ. Ellie worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years prior to retiring in 2000.

Surviving Ellie are two daughters and their husbands, Twana and Rick Karns and Lesley and Steve Neible; a sister, Ruby Osterman; brother, Paul Schorr; six grandchildren, Taryn Eisenbrey, Matthew Bellgard, Dusty Woodard, Steven Brown, Audra Straw, and Jared Neible; fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley McRae in 2017 and by a daughter, Rosa Yellig.

Funeral services for Ellie were held at 1 p.m., on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial followed in Zion Lippe Cemetery.

Friends visited with the family from 10 a.m., until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 West Franklin Street.
