David J. Straub

David J. Straub, 70, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown Campus.

David was born on September 5, 1955, in Evansville to the late Sylvester A. and Laura Beth (Slaton) Straub. David worked as a mechanic, a dump truck driver, and a tool and die maker before retiring as a school bus driver.

Surviving David are his wife of 40 years, Deborah “Debbie” (Christopher) Straub; children, Becky (Chris Smith) Pickerill, David McBride, and Michelle Ferguson; sister, Linda Straub; brother, Richard (Susan) Straub; grandchildren, Mitchell (Anna) Ferguson, Trevor (Sarah) Ferguson, and Kierstyn Ferguson, Devin and Destyni Pickerill, and Noah Smith, great grandchildren, DJ, Myzel, Rhett, Jack, Mavrick, and Zander, and his best friend and dog, Mr. Wiggles.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Straub.

Funeral services for David were held at 1 p.m., on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends visited with the family from 10 a.m., until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
