Wildcats pick up win pair

The Mount Vernon Wildcat bseball team picked up a pair of recent wins. The first was a 3-1 win over Tell City.
Bryce Bourne earned the win for the Wildcats. The starter gave up three hits and one run (none earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking two. Luke Weintraut collected the save.
Lyons, Clowers, and Bourne each drove in one run for Mt. Vernon as Clowers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Wildcats in hits.
Mt. Vernon vs Wood Memorial (13 - 2) Levi Embrey drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Wildcats past Wood Memorial Varsity Trojans 13-2 on Saturday.
Embrey singled in the second, scoring two, singled in the third, scoring one, and singled in the sixth, scoring one. Embrey earned the win for Mt. Vernon. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two.
The Wildcats piled up 15 hits in the game. Hall, Logan Clowers, and Jackson Meinschein each collected multiple hits. Hall and Bryce Bourne led the team with three bases on balls each. Clowers stole two bases
