Vikings shut out South Spencer 4-0 behind Johnson’s arm

The North Posey baseball team started off the week with the Monday afternoon game against Evansville Christian getting postponed due to storms. On Thursday afternoon, North Posey traveled to Rockport to play against the South Spencer Rebels, winning 4-0.
Last Friday afternoon, North Posey made up the game that was rained out against Evansville Christian. The Vikings defeated the Eagles 7-1 to win their second straight game. On Saturday morning, North Posey traveled to Bedford North Lawrence. The Vikings lost 7-3 to snap a two-game winning streak. For the season, North Posey has ten wins and six losses.
North Posey 4, South Spencer 0: The Vikings looking to bounce back after the previous loss to Southridge. Last Thursday night, the Vikings went on the road to Rockport to take on the South Spencer Rebels.
Viking sophomore Remington Johnson threw a complete game shut out to beat the Rebels by the final score of 4-0. Johnson threw seven innings, allowing five hits, no runs, one walk with four strikeouts on 89 pitches thrown.
North Posey has now won five of their last six games played to improve their season record to nine wins and five losses. In the Pocket Athletic Conference, the Vikings are 4-2, which is good enough for fourth place in league play. South Spencer has now lost ten straight games with their record at two wins and thirteen losses. The Rebels are 1-7 in the PAC.
North Posey had seven hits in the game. Brennan Reich and Davin Sullivan each went two for four at the plate. Reich also drove in one run, and Sullivan had three stolen bases.
Remi Johnson, Grant Cullman, and Lane Young each had one hit in the game. Johnson scored two runs and walked, while Cullman had one run batted in and a stolen base. Zeke Roosevelt scored a run, walked, hit by a pitch, and stole a base. Ben Freeman scored a run in this win.
North Posey 7, Evansville Christian 1: Last Friday, the Vikings played against the Evansville Christian Eagles in a game that was originally scheduled four days ago but postponed due to rain showers.
This game started off a little slow for both teams through three innings played with a scoreless tie. North Posey scored two runs in the fourth inning, three in the fifth inning, and two more runs in the seventh inning to defeat Evansville Christian 7-1. The Vikings have now won two straight games to improve their record to 10-5 on the season. In the game, North Posey had nine hits on the seven runs scored.
Brennan Reich got the win on the pitcher’s mound for North Posey. Reich threw 5.1 innings, allowing four hits, one run, five walks, with three strikeouts on 81 pitches thrown. Grant Cullman threw two-thirds of an inning surrendering no hits, runs, or walks with two strikeouts on nine pitches. Ben Buchanan threw one inning giving up no hits, runs or walks with one strikeout on ten pitches.
Grant Cullman also hit a home run on his only hit of the game with three RBIs, two runs scored, hit by a pitch and one stolen base. Will Bippus went three for four hitting with three RBIs and a stolen base. Remington Johnson went two for three with a walk, stolen base, and a run. Lane Young went one for three with a run and stolen base.
Brennan Reich went one for three with a walk. Ben Freeman went one for three with a run scored. Dylan Detty walked, stole a base, and scored a run. Joey Hisch was hit by a pitch, and Ben Buechanan stole a base.
Bedford North Lawrence 7, North Posey 3: The Vikings went on a long road trip last Saturday morning to play a game against Bedford North Lawrence. Normally, Bedford North Lawrence is known for their basketball and the state’s all-time scoring leader Damon Bailey.
North Posey struggled on the road against Bedford North Lawrence with only six hits on the three runs scored. The Vikings lost this matchup by four runs, snapping a two-game win streak and dropping their season record to ten wins and six losses. Bedford North Lawrence on the season has seven wins and six losses, winning their second straight game.
Will Bippus took the loss on the pitcher’s mound for North Posey throwing 4.2 innings, giving up nine hits, five runs, three walks, with two strikeouts on 94 pitches thrown. Ben Buchanan threw one third of an inning allowing two hits, one run, one walk with no strikeouts on nineteen pitches. Parker Magill threw one inning, surrendering one hit, run, and walked with one strikeout on nineteen pitches.
Ben Freeman went two for three with a double and two runs scored. Davin Sullivan went two for three with a double, and a run batted in. Remington Johnson went one for three with a walk and a run. Zeke Roosevelt went one for three hitting. Grant Cullman drove in one run and walked.
