Lady Cats fifth, Lady Vikings sixth at MV Invitational

Last Friday evening was the Mount Vernon Invitational held on the Mount Vernon High School campus. Eight schools battled against each other at this meet. One of the great track meets to help prepare against some of the same teams in the upcoming sectional to determine where some of these athletes stand a few weeks before the postseason. The IHSAA Sectionals begin on May 19 with Mount Vernon High School hosting this local event.

Castle won as a team with a high score of 168.50 points. Finishing second as a team was Gibson Southern with 118 points, followed by Evansville Mater Dei in third place with 88.50 points, Evansville Memorial in fourth place with 75 points, Mount Vernon in fifth place with 71.50 points, North Posey in sixth place with 45 points, Evansville Central in seventh place with 27.50 points, and Vincennes Lincoln in ninth place with 20 points.

There were a few winning performances from athletes for both Mount Vernon and North Posey during this Mount Vernon Invitational. Three races were won by the Posey County schools. The wins came from two freshmen. Mount Vernon freshmen Stella Hall won the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdle races, while North Posey freshmen Rowan Englebright won the 3200-meter run.
