Viking tennis sweeps Tell City, Princeton

The North Posey girls’ tennis team went on a long road trip last Monday afternoon to Tell City to take on the Lady Marksmen in a dual contest. North Posey had a great day on the tennis courts defeating Tell City in all five matches. Last Tuesday, the Lady Vikings swept their second straight opponent beating Princeton 5-0. On Thursday night, the Lady Vikings were swept by Washington 5-0.
North Posey 5, Tell City 0: On Monday night, the Lady Vikings went on the road to take on Tell City in a conference matchup. North Posey won all five varsity contests to improve their season record to two wins and three losses. In the Pocket Athletic Conference, the Lady Vikings have two wins and two losses.
In the One Singles match, Jaz Ward of North Posey beat Aniksha Kashyab of Tell City by two sets 6-4 and 6-3. Braelyn Barrett of North Posey won the Two Singles competition over Mylee Schulthise of Tell City by two sets 6-1 and 6-2. For the Three Singles match, Kylee Heath of North Posey defeated Chloe Rudolph of Tell City in three sets 4-6, 6-1, and 6-0.
During the One Doubles match, Haven Barton/Cassie Bender-Staples of North Posey won in two sets over Payton Moskos/Summer DuPont of Tell City 7-5 and 6-1. Mady Nightingale/Peyton Wassmer of North Posey beat McKenna Lanum/Tanner Franzman of Tell City in Two Doubles by 6-3 and 6-0.
The North Posey junior varsity tennis team also swept Tell City in all their matches. Winning their matches for the North Posey junior varsity team were the doubles teams of Raela Cullum/Emma Hisch, Addi Doubler/Anna Luigs, and Claire Will/Emmy Olander. In singles matches, Luigs, Doubler, Cullum, and Hisch all won their contests.
North Posey 5, Princeton 0: The Lady Vikings were back on the tennis courts last Tuesday afternoon in a home matchup against the Princeton Lady Tigers in conference play. North Posey dominated this contest, sweeping Princeton in all five matches 5-0. For the season, North Posey improved their record to three wins and three losses. In the PAC, the Lady Vikings are now 3-2.
In the One Singles competition, Jaz Ward of North Posey defeated Madison Smith of Princeton in two sets 6-4 and 7-6 (7-5). Braelyn Barrett of North Posey beat Abigail Brown of Princeton in the Two Singles match by two sets 6-3 and 6-1. For the Three Singles contest, Kylee Heath of North Posey won over Lydia Earles of Princeton in two sets 6-4 and 6-4.
During the doubles matches, Haven Barton/Cassie Bender-Staples of North Posey defeated Karli Whetstone/Kendyl Lankford of Princeton during the One Doubles match in two sets 6-3 and 6-3. Mady Nightingale/Peyton Wassmer of North Posey won the Two Doubles competition over Addison Schaefe/Kaitlyn Doane of Princeton by two sets 6-2 and 6-1.
In junior varsity matches, the doubles teams of Emily Schmitt/Janniah Garrett and Maya Mauck/Molly George each won their contests over Princeton.
Washington 5, North Posey 0: The Lady Vikings tennis team competed against the Washington Lady Hatchets last Thursday afternoon in a conference matchup. Washington played well and snapped North Posey’s two game winning streak by sweeping the Lady Vikings 5-0.
In the One Singles competition, Sophia Hill of Washington defeated Jaz Ward of North Posey in two sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Sarah Arthur of Washington won the Two Singles match over Braelyn Barrett of North Posey by two sets 7-6 (7-3), and 6-0. For the Three Singles match, Emma Niehaus of Washington won over Kylee Heath of North Posey by two sets 6-1 and 6-3.
During the One Doubles match, Nora Kate McMurray/Ella Williams of Washington beat Haven Barton/Cassie Bender-Staples of North Posey by two sets 6-4 and 6-0. Maliyah Thorne/Breah Eskew of Washington won the Two Doubles match over Mady Nightingale/Peyton Wasmer (NP) by two sets 6-1 and 6-1.
For the season, North Posey are 3-4. In the Pocket Athletic Conference, the Lady Vikings have three wins and three losses.
