NPJH Vikings trackster girls win, boys second in triangular

Members of the North Posey Junior High track team set a new standard recently in the eighth grade boys 4x100 meter run. They set a new school record with the time of 48.38 seconds. Then on Saturday, the team beat their record with a new record of 48.08.Pictured left to right are, Reese Dunn, Carter Hertel, Maguire Gibbs, and Samual Oakley. The group also holds the seventh grade school record for this event.

On Tuesday, the North Posey Junior High School boys’ and girls’ track teams traveled to Petersburg, Indiana on the Pike Central High School campus to compete in a triangular meet against Pike Central and Tecumseh.

The North Posey girls won their meet as a team with a winning score of 70 points. Pike Central was second with 67 points and Tecumseh in third place with 19 points.

Winning their race or field event for North Posey Junior High girls were Addalynne Carter in the shot put. The 3200-meter relay team of Lyla Hautman, Clara Naab, Zelle Pate, and Blake Williams. Bella Ice won the 100-meter hurdles, Kinslee Parrish won the 100-meter dash, and Lyla Hautman in the 1600-meter run.

The North Posey 400-meter relay eighth grade team of Emma Axton, Kinslee Parrish, Addalynne Carter, and Bella Ice won their race. North Posey’s seventh grade 400-meter relay team of Kenly Johnson, Zelle Pate, Addy Pyle, and Emily Stoneberger placed first. Emma Axton won the 200-meter dash.

For the boy’s competition, Pike Central won as a team with 74 points. North Posey finished second with 68 points. Tecumseh placed third as a team with 21 points.

Winning their race or field event for North Posey was Maguire Gibbs in the shot put and discus events. Lucas Mason won the 110-meter hurdles. Carter Hertel placed first in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Bailey Wathen won the 800-meter run.
