NPJH Vikings continue to roll, sweep PAC pair

Last Tuesday night from North Posey Junior High School, the Vikings seventh and eighth grade boys’ basketball teams played against the Princeton Middle School Tigers. As of lately, both North Posey teams have won numerous games and continue going in that direction.
Both Viking teams played well and each one defeated Princeton for a victory. During the seventh-grade game, North Posey edged Princeton by the final score of 29-27. In the eighth-grade contest, North Posey won 45-26. On the season, the seventh-grade Vikings now have eleven wins and four losses. The North Posey eighth graders have a 11-3 record.
In the seventh-grade game, North Posey started off the game a little slow but as the contest progressed, North Posey built enough momentum to squeak by Princeton to win by two points.
Carter Fehn led the Vikings by scoring ten points. Asa Blaylock finished with nine points, followed by Jonah Bender with three points, Will Jenkins with three points, Owen Blaylock with two points, and Ben Beuligmann with two points.
For the eighth-grade matchup, North Posey had a slow start but picked up their game in the second half to defeat Princeton by nineteen points. The Tigers led 16-14 at the halftime break. Then North Posey outscored Princeton 31-10 in the second half to cruise to a big win.
Evan Beuligmann led the Vikings by scoring 16 points. Carter Hertel scored nine points, followed by Connor Beuligmann and Kyle Hatch each scoring seven points. Hunter Brandle, Leo Brandenstein, and Lane Waedler each scored two points for the Vikings.
The Vikings played against Owensville last Saturday morning in a home matchup. This was a mix of seventh and eighth grade Viking players in this matchup. North Posey played a great game and defeated the Kickapoos 43-34.
Kyle Hatch led the Vikings by scoring a game-high of 19 points. Brennan Brown finished with seven points, followed by Avery Martin with six points, Hunter Brandle with five points, Owen Blaylock with two points, Ben Beuligmann with two points, and Griffen Jeffries with two points.
The North Posey Junior High School seventh and eighth grade boys’ basketball teams each played two games each on Saturday, January 17 in a round robin format from Tell City Middle School.
As of lately, both North Posey teams have played well and continue winning games. The seventh grade Vikings defeated Tell City in overtime by the score of 20-18. In the Washington game, the North Posey seventh grade team beat the Hatchets 26-16 to improve their season record to ten wins and only four losses.
For the eighth grade Viking basketball team, they demolished Tell City by the final score of 46-6. Then in their contest against Washington, the Vikings beat the Hatchets by the final score of 43-19. On the season, North Posey’s improved their season record to eleven wins and three losses.
In the seventh grade Vikings game against Tell City, this was a fight until the end taking North Posey to overtime to beat the Marksmen by the final score of 20-18. North Posey led 10-8 at the end of the first half. Then Tell City outscored North Posey 10-8 in the second half to tie the game 18-18 at the end of regulation. During overtime, North Posey outscored Tell City 2-0 to win this matchup by two points.
Carter Fehn led the Vikings by scoring eight points. Jonah Bender scored four points, followed by Owen Blaylock with four points. Blaylock made the game-winning shot in overtime to help the Vikings win. Parker Weber and Asa Blaylock each scored two points.
During the eighth-grade game, North Posey easily handled Tell City by the final score of 46-6. The Vikings led at the end of the first half 34-6. North Posey kept Tell City scoreless in the second half to move on and win this contest by forty points.
Carter Hertel led the Vikings by scoring eight points. Cruiz McGrew scored seven points, followed by Carson Lupfer with seven points, Kyle Hatch with seven points, Leo Brandenstein with six points, Connor Beuligmann with three points, Hunter Brandle with two points, and Lane Waedler with two points.
The North Posey seventh grade team beat Washington by the final score of 26-16. North Posey led 10-2 at the end of the first quarter. At the conclusion of the second quarter, the Vikings extended their advantage up to 16-5. Washington did outscore North Posey 11-10 in the second half, but the Vikings walked away with a ten-point win.
Carter Fehn led the Vikings by scoring nine points. Parker Weber scored seven points, followed by Owen Blaylock with six points, Jonah Bender scoring two points, and Wheeler Unfried with two points.
North Posey eighth grade team easily defeated Washington by the final score of 43-19. The Vikings led 21-7 at the end of the first half. In the second half, North Posey outscored Washington 22-12 to defeat the Hatchets by 24 points.
Warren Bowers led North Posey with a game-high 10 points. Connor Beuligmann scored nine points, followed by Evan Beuligmann with eight points, Carter Hertel with four points, Carson Lupfer with four points, Cruiz McGrew with two points, Hunter Brandle with two points, Kyle Hatch with two points, Leo Brandenstein with two points, and Lane Waedler with one point.
