Monica Lynn Powell

Monica Lynn Powell, age 52, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away on March 15, 2026. She was born July 27, 1973, in Evansville, IN to the late, Gene and Cynthia “Cindy” (Chumley) Powell.

She was a New Harmony High School graduate. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed attending services and loved her church family dearly. At home, Monica loved sitting in her recliner with her dog and watching movies with her son, Austin.

Monica had a big heart and loved her family and friends endlessly. She was always there for others, offering kindness, support, and unwavering care whenever it was needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, John and Dorita “DoDo” Jean Logan; paternal grandparents, Marvin Lewis and Mary Evelyn (Rager) Powell; maternal aunt, Kathy Wagner-Hobbs; cousins, Aaron Butler and Johnathan Winebarger.

Monica is survived by her son, Austin Powell; brother, Daniel Powell; aunt, Jackie (Mike) Baxter; nieces and nephews, Daniel, Tyler, Zoe, Mason, and Samantha; her dog, Rebel; and many cousins and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Sixth St., Mount Vernon, Ind., with Dr. Grace Howard officiating.
