Mark A. Kozinski

Mark A. Kozinski, 64, of Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born on August 25, 1962, in Chicago, the son of Theodore and Beverly (Weisseg) Kozinski.

Mark was married to his wife, Gigi (Briesacher) Kozinski, for 41 years.

Mark began his career as a junior high science teacher, a profession he enjoyed for many years. His dedication to education eventually led him to earn his master’s degree.

Mark had many interests and hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He especially loved fishing and treasured the times spent on the water with his son, Rylan, and grandchildren. He also had a deep love of music. Mark enjoyed writing his own songs and recording them himself, a passion he passed down to his children, who have continued the family’s musical tradition. Mark was also a devoted Cubs fan and enjoyed watching football.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gigi; his children, Rachel (Clay) Lincoln and Rylan (Sammi) Kozinski; his grandchildren, Bond, Brynlee, and Baker Lincoln; his parents, Theodore and Beverly Kozinski; his brothers, Jason, Brian, and Teddy Kozinski; his grandmother, Anne Antosiak-Holts; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 12 p.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Troy DeKemper officiating. Burial followed in Blacks Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m., until service time at the funeral home.
