There are games throughout a season when a team goes on fire, with everything going their way and most of not, all baskets falling through the hoop. Then there are other times when teams have nothing going their way and almost every shot taken clings off the rim.
That is exactly what happened in this game last Tuesday night between the North Posey Lady Vikings against the Princeton Lady Tigers. This game was played in the Northern area of Gibson County.
Every basket and situation in this matchup went in favor of Princeton. Baskets were falling through the hoop, the ball on rebounds went towards a Princeton player, and passes by North Posey were picked off easily by a Tiger.
On the other hand, nothing in this game went right for the North Posey Lady Vikings. Shots taken were not going through the hoop, rebounds not falling to the Lady Vikings and numerous turnovers built up. This was the worst loss of the season against North Posey.
Princeton walked all over North Posey to easily win by the final score of 61-25. It was lowest points scored in a game by the Lady Vikings this season. The loss dropped North Posey’s season record to 12-9. Princeton improved their record to 13-7.
North Posey started off the game with a 2-0 advantage. Then the game was taken over by Princeton, finishing the first quarter with a 23-8 run to lead 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was a disaster for North Posey, being outscored 24-6. At the end of the first half, Princeton led 47-16.
The Lady Tigers won the third quarter 10-8 and even built a 35-point lead to finish the remainder of the game with a running clock. This game was out of reach for the Lady Vikings to make a run. Most North Posey starters did not play in the second half to avoid any unwanted injuries. In the fourth quarter, Princeton outscored North Posey 4-1, winning by the score of 61-25.
Lady Viking freshman Taylor Reich led the team by scoring eight points. Princeton had four players scored in double figures. All four of those Princeton players had ten or more points at the end of the first half.
Alexis Kermode led the Tigers with a game-high 18 points. Ailie Taylor finished with 16 points, Raven Jones with 13 points, and Nya Dame with 10 points. For the game as a team, Princeton made nine three-point baskets.

North Posey Lady Viking basketball team continues staying stuck in a rut at this part of the season. The Lady Vikings played better basketball last Thursday night from Tell City High School but had a hard time shutting down a hot shooting Marksmen team.
Reese Ford of Tell City had a career game against the Lady Vikings with 34 points. Ford started off the first quarter scoring 16 of the Lady Marksmen 20 points. After one quarter of the game played, Tell City had a ten-point advantage at 20-10.
The Lady Vikings played a better second quarter by cutting the deficit down to four points at 22-18. North Posey won the second period 13-11 but still trailed by a few possessions at the halftime break 31-23.
Tell City came out of the halftime break on fire, outscoring the Lady Vikings 17-8 to extend their lead to seventeen points at 48-31 to end the third quarter. North Posey played a good fourth quarter, by winning the period 16-14 but fell by the final score of 62-47.
In this game, the Lady Marksmen were nearly perfect from the free throw line going 22 for 23 from the charity stripe. Plus, the first and third quarters really hurt the Lady Vikings from having a chance in this game. Tell City outscored North Posey 37-18 in the first and third periods.
For the season, North Posey’s season record fell to 12-10. This was the Lady Vikings second loss in a row. Tell City improved their season record to ten wins and ten losses, moving them ahead of North Posey in the Pocket Athletic Conference standings.
Jaz Ward led the Lady Vikings by scoring 19 points. Elle Jo Johnson scored 17 points for North Posey. Ella Weatherholt scored five points, Mallory Luigs with three points, and Addie Murphy with three points for the Lady Vikings. For Tell City, Reese Ford finished with 34 points, followed by Kendall Lane with 13 points, Addison Coyle with nine points, and Taryn Lane with six points.
