Jerome ‘Jerry’ E. Boyle

Jerome “Jerry” E. Boyle, 83, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, at the Heart to Heart Hospice House.

Jerry was born on December 30, 1942, to the late Daniel and Mary Alyce (Ruddell) Boyle.

Jerry was in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1967. He served on the USS Conquest MSO 488, the USS Arnold J. Isbell DD869, and the USS Walke DD723. Jerry was an esteemed guest on the EVR-2 virtual Honor Flight on December 6, 2025.

Jerry worked at Mead Johnson for 35 years. He was an active member of the Mead Jo Club, and he helped coach the women’s softball team to several city championships.

Jerry was an active member of VFW Post 1114. He served as a member of the Retired Veteran’s Memorial Club, performing funeral rites for deceased veterans. He also held several officer positions in the VFW.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his two sisters, Margie Luckett and Mary Lee Griggs, and his grandson, Adam Biggs.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Marisha (Stone) Boyle; his daughter, Mary White; his son, Spencer (Caitlyn) Boyle; one sister, Jeanne (Joe) Moore; one brother, Pat (Marilyn) Boyle; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 East Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Jerry Schapker officiating, and the Retired Veterans Memorial Club along with the United States Navy conducting military honors. A private burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Browning Funeral Home.
