Janice Goebel, 69, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown Campus.
Jan was born on December 12, 1955, in Richland, Wash., to the late Edward and Dona (Holsberry) Graves. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed sewing, making rosaries and made delicious kuchens. Jan was a faithful Catholic, a member of Saint Philip Catholic Church and made Cursillo 95.
Surviving Jan are her husband of 50 years, Paul Goebel; a son, Jeremy (Jessica) Goebel; daughters, Kristy (Chris) Bell and Nina (Rolland) Craig; a brother, Scott Graves, and grandchildren, Skylar (Carson) Hettenbach, Austin Bell, Malayna Hettenbach, Nate Goebel and Mallory Goebel.
In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Graves.
There was will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Saint Philip Catholic Church, the Rev. Nick Biever officiated. Burial followed in Saint Philip Church Cemetery.
Friends visited with the family from 1 until 5 p.m. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 West Franklin Street and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at Saint Philip Catholic Church, 3500 Saint Philip Road, South
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Deaconess Midtown Hospital third floor ICU for all of their kind and compassionate care.
