Helen Garrett

Helen Kleinschmidt Garrett of Raceland, La., passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026.

She was born in Posey County, Ind., and later made her home in south La. She was married for more than 59 years to the late Herbert Russell Garrett.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Garrett Zeringue (Malcolm) children Ashley and Andrew, daughter Melea Joyce Garrett (Christopher Sunderland); daughter, Terri Garrett Gautreaux (Craig); their children, Alyssa Segura Rhodes (Corey) and Alex Gautreaux (Kylie); and great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Adeline and Elliana Rhodes.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her granddaughter, Ashley.

Helen will be remembered for her vibrant personality, devotion to her family and the love she shared throughout her life.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to her loving and dedicated caregivers, Louise, Earline and Mary as well as the staff at Hope Hospice.
