Gloanna Hodges

Gloanna (Dixon) Hodges, age 95, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away September 19, 2026 at her home. She was born January 5, 1931 in Mt. Vernon to the late Douglas and Lola (Deuischer) Dixon.
Gloanna graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and continued her education at Lockyear Business College. One of her first jobs was being a bookkeeper for Rossi Oil Company and later she was the office manager for Hodges Appliance for many years, a business she co-owned with her husband, Morris.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Posey County Extension Homemakers – Busy Homemakers Club. Gloanna enjoyed sewing and thought every child needed their own sock monkey. She looked forward to cooking Sunday dinner for her family every week. Gloanna loved Donald Duck, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and of course yellow cats.
Gloanna had a special way of finding a use for just about anything, often saying, “I might need dat.” This favorite saying will surely be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Morris Hodges in 2001.
Gloanna is survived by her children, Marcia (Bruce) Reich, Douglas Hodges (Pamela Cleale), David Hodges and Gayle (James) Priest; grandchildren, John (Hannah) Schneider, Katie (Patrick) O’Brien, Molly (Paul) Carrillo, Joey (Vivian) Priest, Amy (Ryan) Dawson, Matthew (Andrea) Hodges and Christina Hodges; great-grandchildren, Ava and Padraig O’Brien and Ivy Priest; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and her very special cat, Tommy.
