Gary Edward Gilmore

Gary Edward Gilmore, 88, of Evansville, Ind., born September 24, 1937, to Charles C. and Mildred L. (Fithian) Gilmore in Griffin, Ind., passed away, Saturday, September 5, 2026 at his home in Evansville, Ind.
He graduated from Griffin High School in 1955 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville in 1960. He taught at Griffin High School and North Posey High School and was a basketball coach at the grade school level. He worked at Whirlpool as a Cost Estimator and for Expressway Dodge as a Rental Manager. He was a member of the Griffin Christian Church and was on the German Township Water Board. He was an avid poker and ping pong player, and a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Surviving are his wife: Diana Kay (Andry) Gilmore; daughter: Jill Marie Pritchett (Chuck Pedersen); sons: John David Gilmore (Karen) and Andrew Lee Gilmore (Katie); brother: James David Gilmore along with nine grandchildren: Garett, Olivia, Jake, Alex, Noah, Ian, Evan, Colin and Emily.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son: Charles Andry Gilmore and a brother: Charles Daniel Gilmore.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Griffin, Ind. A celebration of life gathering will follow the graveside service from Noon to 3 p.m.-ish at the Rapp-Owen Granary, 413 Granary Street, New Harmony, Ind.
