William Charles Heilman


It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of William Charles Heilman who passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026 at the age of 94.


Born on September 26, 1931 to Fern (Heinlein) Fendel and Charles Frederick Heilman, dedicated his life to caring for others. After graduating from Purdue University in 1953, he served in the army. Bill went on to build a respected career spanning over 46 years as a pharmacist. Many in the Poseyville community will remember him not just for filling prescriptions, but for his warm smile, his patient counsel, and the comforting presence he provided behind the counter at Stevens Pharmacy which later became H & R Pharmacy. He treated his customers like family and his family like the greatest treasure in his life.


Beyond his professional life, Bill was a devoted family man, a trusted friend, and a pillar of the community. He was a member of the Poseyville Masonic Lodge 632 Worshipful Master, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, Southwestern Pharmacy Association President, American Legion Post 278 Commander, St. Paul’s Global Methodist Church Administrative Council President for 25 years, Purdue Alumni Association, Poseyville Carnegie Library Board President, Poseyville Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Trace Council Boy Scouts of America District Chairman and the Posey County Health Board.


He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, compassion, and service. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years: June (Smallwood) Heilman; his children: Vicky Seibert (Mark), Susan Mulkey (Chris) and Kathy George (Jeff); sister: Mary Lou Eissler; and his adored grandchildren: Kit, Michael, Nick, Andy, Zack and Bryan; great grandchildren: Bennett, Keegan, Grady, Kenzie, June, Hadley, William and Jolene.


He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandson: Jacob George. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.


Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 16, 2026 at St. Paul’s Global Methodist Church in Poseyville, Ind., with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Ind.


Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Ind., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.


Visitation to continue 9 a.m. until service time, Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the church.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Shriners Children’s, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
