Vikes are Academic All State

Recently, the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association announced their Academic All-State Volleyball Team for the 2025 season. Over nine hundred student-athletes across the state earned this honor not only on the court but also in the classroom.

The North Posey volleyball team had six members make the Academic All-State team. Selected to this team from the Lady Vikings were Addie Murphy, Ella Weatherholt, Kyleigh Bender, Mallory Luigs, Siri Fullop, and Sophia Stone.

Murphy, Weatherholt, Bender, Luigs, and Fullop earned this honor as players on the North Posey volleyball team, while Stone made the squad as a Support Staff Academic All-State selection. There were fifty-five support staff members selected for the all-state honor.

To be eligible for this honor a player must be a senior, be on the school’s sectional roster and have a 3.50 or higher-grade point average. Members earning this honor were divided in two categories with those players with a 3.5 – 3.74 grade point average earn Silver Awards. To earn the Gold Award, players must have a 3.75 for higher grade point average.

Earning the Silver Award for North Posey was Addie Murphy and Kyleigh Bender. Receiving Gold Award honors were Ella Weatherholt, Mallory Luigs, and Siri Fullop. Sophia Stone was recognized for her contribution as a great asset to the Lady Viking volleyball program.

This past season, North Posey finished with twenty-five wins and only five losses. The Lady Vikings were 11-1 in the Pocket Athletic Conference, which was good enough for second place in the biggest conference in the state with thirteen schools.

These five seniors had one of the best four-year records of any class at North Posey. During this great run in their high school career, this group finished with a 103-27 record over those four years.

On another note, these North Posey seniors had a 44-4 record in the last four years during their conference games. The Lady Vikings had an 11-1 record in each of the last four seasons with all four losses coming during this stretch from Tecumseh. Also, this group was part of two sectional championship teams in 2022 and 2023.

As for season statistics, Fullop led the Lady Vikings with 993 assists, and 58 aces. Fullop also had 128 kills, 15 blocks, and 222 digs. Mallory Luigs led North Posey with 584 digs and 387 serves received. Luigs also had 45 aces and 38 assists last season.

Ella Weatherholt finished her senior season with 401 digs, 357 serves received, 208 kills, nine assists, and seven blocks. Addie Murphy had 247 digs, 268 serves received, 24 aces, and 13 assists. Kyleigh Bender had 157 kills, 57 digs, 28 blocks, three assists, and two serves received.
