Spencer Lee Aldrich

Spencer Lee Aldrich, age 79, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away Monday evening, February 23, 2026 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born August 29, 1946, in Evansville, Ind., to the late Albert and Jessie Aldrich.

Spencer married his soulmate, Sue A. Aldrich, and together they raised three children, as well as many neighborhood children who were always welcomed into their home.

He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1964. Spencer worked at GE in Mount Vernon, leaving in 1991 after 14 years of service. A lifelong farmer, Spencer began farming at the age of 16 and remained devoted to the land throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the Posey County Saddle Club and served on the Lynn Township Trustee Board. Known for his frugal ways and practical wisdom, Spencer took pride in teaching the younger generation, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Spencer will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and his generous heart.

Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Sue; daughters, Andrea (Dawayne) Mercer and Adrienne (Scott) Angel; sons, Michael (Trina) Carlisle and Guy Aldrich; grandchildren, Bailey Stewart, Josie Mercer, Luke (Gracee) Mercer, Lance Carlisle (fiancé, Alexis Alldredge), Alexis (Brenton) Burger, Allyssa (Cory) Austin, Joshua and Courtney Aldrich; as well as several great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ind., with the Pastor Tom Shutt and the Pastor Troy DeKemper officiating.

Visitation was held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the funeral home.
