Melvin C. Weiss

Melvin C. Weiss, 90, of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was born January 11, 1936 in Mount Vernon to Louis and Amelia Weiss.

He retired from Whirlpool and enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, and baseball. Melvin had served as a member of the Army National Guard. He also proudly operated a multigenerational farm for many years, mostly growing soybeans and corn.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Lester Weiss, Shirts Weiss, Robert Weiss, and Juanita Weiss.

He is survived by his children, Brian Weiss (Angel), Lorna Weiss, and Darryl Weiss; loving wife, Lorraine; stepchildren, Joe Weyer (Cindy), Robert Weyer (Sanae), Kelly Weyer and Theresa Menner (Don); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Immanuel UCC Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ind.
