Jerry Thomas Winkleman, 85, of Springdale, Ark., and formerly of Wadesville, Ind., born December 2, 1940, to Edgar Truman and Ruby Mae (Hendrickson) Winkleman near Coopers Ridge in Gibson County, Ind., passed to his heavenly glory on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark.
He was graduated by Robb Township High School in 1958 and was a member of both the Wadesville Christian Church and the US Snook Base Sub veteran’s group in Pea Ridge, Ark. In his youth, he served in the US NAVY on the USS Independence as a Radiotelegraph Operator among other assignments. He returned to Posey County, married his sweetheart, Ann Saxe and farmed. He later owned and operated a car body shop and then became the service manager at the Ford dealership in Poseyville, Ind. He left there to serve his community as an EMT and Deputy Sheriff for Posey County. He worked as a pumper in the oil field and operated Winkleman Tank Truck Service until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Doug’s Standard in Poseyville.
Surviving Jerry are his wife of 62 years H. Ann (Saxe) Winkleman; his son: Brady Winkleman (Melissa); two daughters: Wendy Blair (Tom) and Tracy Cousins (Kevin); his brothers: Larry Winkleman (Lorelei), Lloyd Winkleman (Barbara), Jack Winkleman (Melba) and David Winkleman (Cindy); sister: Jane Reynolds; grandchildren: Emily Jacobs (Gabriel), Kierney Winkleman, Joe Blair (Sara), and Lorienne Winkleman; great-grandchildren: Lilly Blair and Archer Jacobs as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his father, Dutch, his mother, Mae and his mom Annizene (Mobley) Winkleman, siblings: Peggy Metz, Bobby Winkleman, Earl Troy Winkleman, and Melba Sue Winkleman.
The family would like to extend their thanks to all his doctors for the exceptional care he received, but particularly to Dr. Chester Burkett of Poseyville, as well as Dr. Hey and the entire staff at the North Hills Dialysis Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Ind., with burial to follow in Poseyville Cemetery in Poseyville, Ind.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wadesville Christian Church, 7226 Highway 66, Wadesville, Indiana 47638. Jerry will be greatly missed.
