Jenny Sue Kimmel

Jenny Sue Kimmel, age 86, of New Harmony, passed away March 1, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. She was born April 23, 1939, in New Harmony, Ind., to the late Christopher and Naomi Ruth (Axton) Reeves.

Jenny was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in New Harmony and attended New Harmony High School. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee, working Search word puzzles, making trips to McDonald’s and watching humming birds.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William Kimmel; a stillborn daughter, Virginia Sue; brothers, Buddy, Bill, Bob, Jack and Kenny Reeves; sisters, Evelyn Rush and Irma Rush.

Jenny is survived by her daughters, Susan Kimmel and Peggy (Brian) Webber; sons, William “Buddy” (Candi) Kimmel and James (Peggy) Kimmel; grandchildren, Gayle (Chris) Lynch, Geoffrey (Lindsey) Kimmel, Jennifer Allen, Jacki and Julie Kimmel, Brandon (Brayann) Webber and Brooke (Justin) Uhde; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Barnett.

Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ind., with the Pastor Robert J. Lloyd officiating and burial followed in Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
