Gary R. Reynolds, age 67, of Wayne, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born on January 19, 1959, in Bowling Green, Ohio to Ray W. & Nancy L. (Stiger) Reynolds. Gary married Marlene K. Wagner on March 28, 1980, and together they built a beautiful family on the farm and enjoyed vacations in Florida.
Surviving Gary is his loving wife of 46 years, Marlene; his children, Melissa Reynolds (Garett Vetter), Andrea Eisterhold (Andrew), and Chad Reynolds (Courtney), his 10 grandchildren, Karly, Jarrett, Kennedy, Brynn, Laney, Ty, Kinze, Colton, Carson, and Kenna, his mother Nancy Reynolds, his brother Greg Reynolds (Jennie), his sister Diane Reynolds-Miller (Dave), his mother-in-law Mary Jo Wagner, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, including his “brain brother,” Noah Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Reynolds, and father-in-law, Wallace Wagner. Gary never judged a book by its cover, enjoyed farm-talk with anyone, and was a friend to many.
He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1977 and began a lifelong career raising livestock and farming the land. He was a leader, if he had something to say, you listened, and he let nothing stand in his way of getting the job done right. Gary spent many seasons coaching basketball at Elmwood, and many of those teams included his children or nieces. He was known for his passion and deep knowledge of the game. Two things that put a smile on his face were high yields and his grandchildren. They were his absolute greatest joy and they adored their “Papa.” He often had a little one in his arms or on his lap and, as they grew, he’d play on the floor with them, teach them about show pigs, offer tips about sports, and never missed a chance to take them for ice cream. Gary sat in the pews of Saint Aloysius Catholic Church for most of his life and officially joined the church December 25, 2025.
Friends were received from 10 untiil 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Catholic Mass began at 11 a.m. with Father Tom McQuillen officiating. Burial was at Graham Cemetery near Wayne.
In leu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Aloysius Catholic Church and to Marlene, to allow Papa to continue to support his grandchildren’s 4-H projects for many years to come.
All arrangements have been entrusted to Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. Online condolences can be sent to Gary’s family at www.barndtfuneralhome.org.
