Arthur F. Goedde, 98, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Heart to Heart Hospice Center.
Art was born on November 12, 1927, in Evansville to the late Frank J. and Elizabeth (Schorlau) Goedde. He was a graduate of Memorial High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan and Korea. Art worked in construction alongside his brother, Elmer. His first job was in sales and dressing mannequins at a downtown department store. He was a longtime member of Resurrection Catholic Church. He enjoyed nature, gardening, walking, reading, art, music and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Surviving Arthur are his sister, Bertha Head; nineteen nieces and nephews, Mike Goedde, Steve Goedde, Judy Wohadlo, Bob Goedde, Patty Scheu, Larry Goedde, Margie Roberts, Diane Schaefer, Mary Jo Bennett, David Wargel, Ron Wargel, Donna Moore, Jim Wargel, Barb Lighty, Ed Schaefer, Tom Schaefer, Sue Rayburn, Debbie Schaefer, and Rob Schaefer, and many, many great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by a sister, Ermalinda Wargel; brothers, Raymond, Sylvester, and Elmer Goedde; two nieces, Linda Keliipaakaua and Theresa Daugherty, three nephews, Mark Goedde, Richard Goedde, and Michael Schaefer.
There was a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Resurrection Catholic Church, the Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Burial followed in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends visited with the family from 1 until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 West Franklin Street and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Road.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus and Heart to Heart Hospice for all of their kind and compassionate care.
