Kathryn Taylor Gross

Kathryn Taylor Gross, 66, of Johnston City, Ill., formerly of Poseyville, Ind., passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at Herrin Hospital.

Born in East Tawas, Michigan, to Gene Gross and Louisa (Taylor) Northup, Kathy devoted her life to caring for others. She worked many years as an LPN, spending much of her career at the Cynthiana Nursing Home. She loved gardening, being outdoors, and sharing time with her family and her beloved dog, Samuel.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her children: Andrea Hopf, Allison Hopf (Rob), Alyssa Hopf (Matt), and Anthony Hopf; her siblings: Kimberly Taylor Martin, Leigh Ann Wiley (Tim), Lynnell Wakley, Lori Bailey, Jennifer Witer, and Larry Broyles (Diane); her grandchildren: Zachary Lockhart, Shaun Beal, Alex Warner, Jesse Beal, and Macy Wilsey; and her step mother, Linda Gross.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by Kent Hopf, the father of her children.

Private burial will be in Poseyville Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Local arrangements will be handled by Werry Funeral Home, Poseyville Chapel.
