NOTICE OF DEMOLITION
As a person or entity with a known or recorded interest in the real estate described below and commonly known as 236 S. Maple Street, Mount Vernon, IN you are hereby notified that the City of Mount Vernon, IN Unsafe Building Enforcement Authority and the City of Mount Vernon, IN Board of Public Works and Safety has authorized the work described below. This will result in substantial cost and those costs will be certified and filed as a lien against the real estate and collected with real estate taxes and/or any legal collection process as for any other judgment, if you do not pay them in full.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY:
Lot Number 88 in Kimball’s Enlargement to the City of Mount Vernon, IN. Also known as 236 S. Maple Street, Mount Vernon, IN 47620
AUTHORITY FOR ACTION AND NOTICE TIME:
Notice of Demolition is pursuant to July 9, 2026 Order of the City of Mount Vernon Unsafe Building Authority. You are hereby notified that the work described below will be performed after the passage of ten (10) days from the date of this notice. It is anticipated that the work will be completed within thirty to forty days.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
All buildings, structures and truck camper shell on the property located at 236 S,Maple Street, Mount Vernon, IN will be demolished, debris hauled away, lot graded to level.
WHO WILL PERFORM THE WORK:
The City of Mount Vernon, IN Board of Public Works and Safety has received quotes from contractors qualified to perform this type of work.
COSTS AND COLLECTION:
Quote price of contractor who will accomplish the work and amount representing a reasonable estimate of City of Mount Vernon’s costs in processing the matter will, if not paid, be recorded after notice, as a lien against the unsafe premises identified above. The lien may be enforced in any manner available under IN law, including, enforcement action as a judgment which may include a court ordered sale of the premises.
The estimated costs are
• demolition, hauling, clean-up and leveling ground is $8,200.00; and
• administrative costs approximately $2,500.00.
The costs for said action will be recorded, after a hearing if a hearing is requested, as a lien against the real estate and a judgment as to all persons or entities having fee interest, life estate interest, or equitable interest in the unsafe premises.
