OWNER(S): Robert Spray, Estate of Robert Spray, the unknown heirs assigns and successors in interest to Robert Spray
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lot Number 88 in Kimball’s Enlargement to the City of Mount Vernon, Indiana. Also 1978 Arlington Mobile Home 14x70, Serial #701430633236M
More commonly known as: 236 S. Maple Street, Mount Vernon, Indiana 47620 (referred to as “Property”).

On July 9, 2026 the Unsafe Building Enforcement Authority’s Order was affirmed. IT IS ORDERED:
☒ Owner is ordered to demolish the unsafe buildings/mobile home at 236 S. Maple St, Mt. Vernon, IN, remove the debris and level and seed the lot on or before August 9, 2026.
☒ Owner must pay all recording fees incurred and postage expenses incurred. This will include recording this Order and recording of a Release at the conclusion of the case as well as all Certified and First-Class U.S. Mail expenses. Owner is also responsible to pay all costs of this action including, but not limited to, the administrative costs, hearing officer expenses and legal fees.
☒ In the event the Owner fails to complete this work, bids to perform the work will be solicited from an outside contractor or the City of Mt. Vernon Street Department may perform the work. The owner will be financially responsible for the cost of demolition and removal at the bid price or current rates and charges adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety for the work performed by the City, and the same will become a lien against the real estate if the costs are not paid in full.
Civil Penalty
Pursuant to I.C.36-7-9-7(e) a civil penalty of $500.00 is hereby imposed on Owner. This penalty must be paid on or before August 13, 2026
A review hearing is set for August 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the City Hall Annex and all parties are ordered to appear.
A person requesting judicial review under this section must file a verified complaint including the findings of fact and the action taken by the hearing authority with the Posey Circuit or Superior Court. The complaint must be filed within ten (10) days after the date of this Order.
