Two die in Posey Fire

Two people have died and another person is in the hospital after a late‑night house fire on Diamond Island Road in Posey County near the intersection with Motz Road west of St. Wendel..

According to information provided to the Posey County News, Edy and Kenny Hurt perished in the fire that destoryed their residence.

According to Posey County Dispatch, the call came in at 9:44 p.m. Friday, prompting a response from the Wadesville Fire Department. Firefighters arrived to find the home fully involved.The condition of the surviving victim has not yet been released, and officials say the identities of the two people killed are still being withheld pending notification of family.

Both the Wadesville Fire Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal continue to actively investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire crews responded with mutual aid to a residential structure fire near Diamond Island Road and Motz roads.

Radio traffic indicated three people were still inside the home, based on information relayed from another county’s dispatch. Multiple units were dispatched due to the severity of the call.
