NPJH Lady Vikings win PAC Tourney to claim the title

The Lady Vikings played their first game of the Pocket Athletic Conference Tournament last Tuesday night from North Posey Junior High School against the Fort Branch Lady Twigs. North Posey has had a great season with thirteen wins and just one loss.

North Posey led after one quarter of the game played by the score of 8-6. Fort Branch made a comeback in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Vikings 7-5. At the halftime break, this game was tied at 13-13.

In the third quarter, North Posey set the tone of the game holding Fort Branch to only four points. The Lady Vikings scored twelve third quarter points to lead 25-17. The Lady Twigs did not back down and made a run in the fourth quarter. Fort Branch won the fourth quarter 10-8 but North Posey’s third quarter result helped them beat Fort Branch 33-27.

With the win, North Posey improved their season record to fourteen wins and one loss. Lyla Hautman led the Lady Vikings with 14 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots. Kinslee Parrish scored ten points along with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

The Lady Viking eighth grade basketball team played their second-round game of the Pocket Athletic Conference Tournament at Tell City last Thursday night. North Posey demolished Tell City in this game by the final score of 39-4.

North Posey started off in the first quarter up 16-2 after one period completed. The Lady Vikings kept Tell City scoreless (10-0) in the second quarter. At the halftime break, North Posey led by the score of 26-2.

For the third quarter, North Posey won the period 7-2 to extend their lead out to 33-4. The Lady Vikings held Tell City scoreless in the fourth quarter (6-0) to cruise to a 39-4 win over the Lady Marksmen. This win advanced the Vikings to the semifinal round of the PAC Tournament.

Kinslee Parrish led the Vikings with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, five steals, and two blocked shots. Addalynne Carter finished with 10 points along with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one blocked shot.

Lyla Hautman ended the game with eight points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Mackenzie Reich with six points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Caroline Belt with two points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Clara Naab with two points and one rebound. Charlie Kirchoff with three rebounds and one steal, while Annabelle Hester finished with two rebounds. North Posey improved their season record to fifteen wins and one loss.

On Saturday morning, the Lady Vikings played in their semifinal contest of the Pocket Athletic Conference Tournament from Pike Central Middle School. North Posey Junior High girls played against Princeton Middle School. The only team to defeat the Lady Vikings in the regular season.

In their second meeting between the two schools, North Posey got revenge and defeated the Lady Tigers by the final score of 34-29. This win advanced North Posey to the championship game against Washington.

Princeton jumped out early on North Posey in the first quarter, leading 13-7. North Posey fought back, winning the second quarter 8-4 but still trailed at the halftime break by the score of 17-15.

The Lady Vikings came out of the halftime break controlling the game by winning the third quarter 12-6 to gain the lead at 27-23. North Posey outscored Princeton 7-6 in the fourth quarter to win 34-29.

Caroline Belt led the Lady Vikings with nine points along with four assists. Mackenzie Reich had a solid game with eight points and 13 rebounds. Lyla Hautman with seven points, five rebounds, and three steals. Charlie Kirchoff scored five points, while Kinslee Parrish contributed with four points and sixteen rebounds. Addalynne Carter scored one point along with nine rebounds.

During the championship game against Washington Middle School last Saturday afternoon from Pike Central Middle School. North Posey cruised to a 29-11 win to claim the Pocket Athletic Conference tournament championship trophy. The Lady Vikings ended their season with seventeen wins and one loss.

The first quarter of this game started slowly with Washington leading 4-2. North Posey gained control of the game starting in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Hatchets 9-2 to lead 11-6 at the end of the first half.

North Posey won the third quarter 11-3 to extend their advantage to 22-9. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Vikings won the period 7-2 to coast to a 29-11 victory.

Lyla Hautman led the Lady Vikings by scoring nine points, along with three rebounds and two assists. Addalynne Carter finished with eight points, fifteen rebounds, and four steals. Kinslee Parrish had five points, four rebounds and two steals. Mackenzie Reich with four points, twelve rebounds, and three blocked shots. Caroline Belt with three points and two rebounds. Charlie Kirchoff with one steal, Annabelle Hester with one rebound, and Clara Naab with one rebound.
