Mount Vernon’s annual River Days set for this weekend

Mt. Vernon River Days is this weekend in downtown Mt. Vernon. The two-day community festival is set for this Friday and Saturday (9/11-9/12). Friday’s highlights include the opening ceremony at 11 a.m., the Smoke on the Ohio Barbecue Competition, live music throughout the day, and a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s events start with the River Days 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday also features a Classic Car Show, a Tractor Display, a Corn Hole Tournament, more Barbecue Competition, and a Talent Show.

The festival’s annual parade, which this year is honoring first responders and remembering 9/11, is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday. Live music continues Saturday evening, and the Mt. Vernon River Days concludes at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
