Fifth-ranked Princeton dismantles Vikings in PAC matchup

The North Posey boys’ basketball team was back on the hardwood for the first time in over a week last Saturday night on the road at Princeton against the Tigers. Coming into this game, Princeton was ranked fifth in the Class 3A Poll.

This contest started off with Princeton leading 4-0. Then North Posey fought back and only trailed the Tigers 6-5. Princeton at that time took over the first quarter, ending the period with a 14-0 run to lead 20-5.

Princeton put up 28 points in the second quarter to distance themselves from the Vikings. Four Tiger players scored six or more points in the second period to help guide them to a 48-20 advantage at the halftime break. One highlight in the first half for North Posey was Trey Buecher, scoring 12 of the Vikings 20 points.

In the third quarter, this game went no better for the Vikings. Princeton kept up their fast-paced high-octane style of basketball outscoring North Posey 16-11 to then lead 64-31 ending the third quarter.

North Posey fought off Princeton from taking a 35-point lead along with having a running clock for most of the game until 1:51 remaining in this contest at 75-39. Princeton easily won this matchup by the final score of 77-39.

For the season, North Posey’s season record fell to three wins and eleven losses. Princeton improved their record to thirteen wins and three losses. Quintyn Voltz led all scorers in the game with 22 points. Edwin Holmes scored 16 points and Zen Coomer with 13 points for the Tigers.

Trey Buecher led the Vikings by scoring career-high 19 points. Brayden Compton scored eight points and freshman Cody Crane finished with seven points. Next up for the Vikings is an away game on Wednesday night at Evansville Day School and Thursday night at home against Pike Central.
