Re: Downtown Mt. Vernon Façade Grant Program Continues in 2026

Since 2017 the Mt. Vernon Redevelopment Commission has provided over $187,000.00 in grants to downtown Mt. Vernon commercial property owners located in the Downtown Mt. Vernon TIF District. Under the Mt Vernon Downtown Façade Grant Program, property owners have utilized the grants to invest more than $450,000.00 in improvements to their properties.

The Mt. Vernon Redevelopment Commission has announced the grant program will continue in 2026. Commercial properties located within the Downtown TIF district are eligible to apply for a matching grant of 50% of façade improvement costs. The maximum amount of a grant is $12,500.00. Eligible projects include improvements to or replacement of windows, doors, masonry retouching, awnings, roofing, outdoor painting, signage or other façade or structural improvements.

Applications for the 2026 Grant Program will be accepted from March 1, 2026 through May 1, 2026. Applications are available at the Mayor’s Office, City Hall, 520 Main Street, Mt. Vernon, Indiana, online at https://www.mountvernonin.gov/, or by contacting a member of the Mt. Vernon Redevelopment Commission.
