NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

At the regular City of Mount Vernon, IN Common Council meeting held on February 18, 2026, “An Ordinance Repealing and Replacing the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Mt. Vernon, the Town of Cynthiana, the Town of Poseyville, and Unincorporated Posey County, as amended, the Subdivision Control Ordinance of the City of Mount Vernon, the Town of Cynthiana, the Town of Poseyville, and Unincorporated Posey County, as amended, and the Renewable Energy Generation Systems Solar and Wind Ordinance, as amended”, also known as Chapters 152 and 153 of the City of Mt. Vernon Code of Ordinances, (the Ordinance) was introduced on first reading. Prior to the adoption, rejection, or amendment of the Ordinance, the Common Council of the City of Mount Vernon, Indiana (“Council”) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 6:30 PM at the Mount Vernon City Hall, 520 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Indiana, 47620. The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments on the proposed Ordinance. Written objections to the proposed Ordinance filed with the Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Mount Vernon, IN, 520 Main Street, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or the Posey County Auditor, 126 E. 3rd St, Room 220, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 prior to the hearing will be heard at the hearing. A full copy of the Ordinance is on file at the Office of the Posey County Area Plan Commission, 126 E. 3rd St., Room 132 , Mt. Vernon, IN 47620. A copy of the recommendation of the Posey County Area Plan Commission regarding the Ordinance is on file with the City of Mt. Vernon Clerk-Treasurer. The hearing may be continued from time to time as may be found necessary. This notice is issued pursuant to IC 36-7-4-606.
