Special to the News Mt. Vernon River Days is this weekend in downtown Mt. Vernon. The two-day community festival is set for this Friday and Saturday (9/11-9/12). Friday’s highlights include the opening ceremony at 11 a.m., the Smoke on the Ohio Barbecue Competition, live music throughout the day, and a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Saturday’s events start with the River Days 5K Run at 8 a.m. Saturday also features a Classic Car Show, a Tractor Display, a Corn Hole Tournament, more
